DAAD Scholarship for Azerbaijani students: eligibility, amount and deadlines
DAAD scholarship for Azerbaijani applicants: what the master’s scholarship covers, who can apply, language requirements, deadlines and alternatives.

DAAD (the German Academic Exchange Service) offers some of the best-known scholarships for master's and doctoral study in Germany. For applicants from Azerbaijan, the key questions are who can apply, how much the scholarship pays and when to apply.
What does DAAD cover?
Full scholarships typically cover the following, depending on the programme:
- a monthly stipend (roughly 900–1,000 euros for master's students, depending on the programme);
- health, accident and liability insurance;
- a one-time travel allowance;
- a tuition subsidy of up to about 500 euros per semester where fees apply;
- a German language course in some programmes.
The figures come from third-party sources and differ slightly between them, so please confirm them in DAAD's official programme database.
Who can apply?
- Applicants who completed their bachelor's degree within the last six years at the application deadline;
- Language proof: German (about B2) for German-taught programmes, or IELTS (about 6.0 or equivalent) for English-taught programmes;
- A motivation letter explaining your study plan and career goals;
- Some programmes, such as the development-oriented EPOS, require at least two years of professional experience.
When to apply
For general master's scholarships the deadline usually falls around October–November, and subject-specific tracks (for example architecture, music and arts) have their own dates. Deadlines change every year, so check the DAAD website and start preparing early.
Studying in Germany without DAAD
It is also possible to study in Germany at low cost without a scholarship. See our guide to studying in Germany.
